You should never praise or reward them to such an extent that they get a feeling of superiority over others.

DOs

  • Praise them when they help someone with something.
  • Praise them when they show empathy towards a person and stands up for them.
  • Reward them when they work hard and score good marks or excel in something else.
  • Praise them when they accept everybody as friends and shows no discrimination.

DON'Ts

  • Don't praise them unnecessarily, for example, for eating food on their own.
  • Don't praise them for the success that they got without putting any efforts.
  • Don't over praise them in front of other children.
  • Don't praise them if their success hurt someone.

Intrinsic motivation is when you are motivated internally to do something because you like doing it. Extrinsic motivation is when you do something because others motivate you to do it. Giving rewards to children plays a part in intrinsic motivation as well. They start feeling that they are getting good results what the good that they had done and they start doing it more. They evestart liking the deeds that they got rewards for and this develops their intrinsic motivation.
