What does the term Mcdonaldization of Society mean from cultural perspectives? Highlight its dimensions with at least 150 words
Mcdonaldisation of society was coined by George Ritzer and it refers to a process by which models of McDonald restaurant applies to every aspect of society .
Every culture has unique features of education, travel , art , food and festivals. McDonaldisation has effected most of cultural aspect of society such as education , media , food , travel , festivals, family etc .
McDonaldisation simply means increased efficiency , calculability , predictability and control of each aspects of society.
Efficiency - McDonald's restaurant is highly efficient in transforming a hungry person to full one. Similarly , above mentioned, societal aspects are becoming fast and efficient.
Calculability - One of the basic feature of McDonald's is its focus on quantity rather quality. If a person gets 2 burgers in quick time , he will be more satisfied than if he gets only one better quality burger in same time. Similarly, education and media are becoming oriented towards quantity instead of quality.
Predictability -- McDonald's you eat in San Fransisco or New York , you will get same standards throughout. This is being observed in today's society which may also be termed as standardisation of society.
control -- Restaurants of McDonald's exercise great control over their service delivery and standards of product. Society has also no es towards having greater control through use of technology and science .
