Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of breastfeeding. Do you believe that all children should be breastfed for at least some period of time? Why or why not.
Answer:
Advantages:
1. Breastfeeding is very essential for newborns as breast milk provides high nutrition to the baby as it contains all useful nutrients like; vitamins, proteins, etc.
2. Breastfeeding is also important for newborns as it contains essential antibodies to fight against infection for the baby.
3. Breastfeeding also helpful in reducing the risks of some diseases like; middle ear infections, respiratory tract infections, allergic diseases, bowel diseases, leukemia, etc.
4. Breastfeeding is also useful to maintain baby's healthy weight according to his or her growth and development of age.
5. Breastfeeding is also helpful to reduce the risk of `sudden infant death syndrome' (SIDS) in the newborns.
6. Breastfeeding is also essential for healthy teeth of the baby.
Disadvantages:
1. Sometimes breastfeeding can be uncomfortable and painful for mother that's common with breastfeeding. It includes mastitis, sore nipples, breast engorgement, etc.
2. Breastfeeding can be uncomfortable and embarrassed in public. It will be difficult to go out with baby.
3. Breastfeeding also can be stressful for beginners as they have to learn proper breastfeeding technique and also have to change their diet, habits and lifestyle to provide a optimal breastfeed to the baby.
4. As baby needs frequent breastfeed specially in night time so that mother can be frustrate of it.
5. The production of estrogen hormone is less in the breastfeeding women's body that leads to less interest in her sexual activities that can be irritable and stressful for her husband.
Why breastfeeding is important for all children:
1. Breastfeeding for at least some period of time is very important for all children because breast milk contains all essential nutrients like; vitamins, proteins, calcium, minerals, etc. which are very useful to keep a baby healthy and free from diseases and infections.
2. Breastfeeding is also useful for all children for at least some period of time as it provides protection to children against antigens (infectious agent) by delivering antibodies from mother to children's body.
3. Breastfeeding is also necessary for all children as it protects children against several infectious diseases like; respiratory tract infection, allergic problems, painful ear infections, intestinal disorders, leukemia (blood cancer) etc.
4. Breastfeeding is also essential for all children as it is very helpful to maintain normal growth and development of both body and mind of children according to their age.
5. Breastfeeding works for children as a complete supplementary diet as it provides overall nutrition to the baby for his or her essential needs of the body.
