The three requirements that are to be satisfied by the Road Safety Audit team are
1. Independence : Auditors should be independent from the design team of the project so that they ensure impartiality and the review proposals from road user experience. There should be good communication between auditors and client for effective audit. Auditors can be selected from large organizations or from consultant firms.
2. Qualifications: Auditors should have adequate experience in traffic engineering and road design, road safety principles, crash investigation and their prevention so that they contribute to a safety audit by providing an understanding of the interactive nature of the behavior of user with the road environment.
3. Experience: Audit teams should have substantial experience in the key areas specified for road safety so that they identify critical areas to be considered while designing road safety measures. Auditors should have a course specified in road safety audits and should have done specified number of audits per year.
