Introduction -
Increasingly, many big organizations are moving towards to not have annual performance review because of the issues created by annual employee performance appraisals. It has been noticed that how executives can impede performance and unsuccessful in achieving the strong outcomes.
Slide 2:
Problem 1 - Halo Effect
It all leads to the positive or negative feeling about an individual and all that reflects while writing performance appraisal reviews. Many times an employee is being judged by his or her supervisor based in on the perception created rather being judged based on the criterion and supporting evidences.
Slide 3:
Recommendation for Problem 1 –
Manager should re-check for the halo effect and various aspects related with the specific employee performance and understand the reasons behind why the similar appraisal is appearing again and again. Thus, manager should mark employee’s strength and weaknesses separately and work along with employee towards the improvement plan.

Problem 2: One sided feedback
Most of the time employee hears from the manager during the performance appraisal review conversation about the areas where an employee can improve upon.

Recommendation for Problem 2 –
Manager should have continuous feedback to employee and should be shared by both parties which help in achieving the clear expectations and objectives. It helps in measuring the set goals with smooth process and addresses the issues arise.
