I used negotiation when I took initiative while organizing an international Yoga day for my college. The situation was such that the sports committee was not willing to organize the event as their point was that students are not able to get up early in the morning and do yoga. So we'll have less footfall in the event and further, the sports committee would get scolded by college authorities.

As a member of the media relations team conducting this event ws important for me as I had to get it covered through my press contacts. I had to enter into a negotiation with the Student Council when they denied me resources and asked for students consent that would appear for the event. I had to negotiate with them with the resources, timing, a big hall in the college and necessary approvals.

Further, I had to organize the whole event, get yoga trainers among the students, market the event and ask students to come for the event early in the morning. The negotiation in this whole event was with college authorities, student council as well as students.

The negotiation technique which I used was 'offer and accept compromise' as I did not get full access to resources and has to get the best out of whatever I got & 'leave behind your ego' as I had to make compromises without being emotionally charged.
