• Essay question: managing expats (the reasons they fail and how to prepare them for assignments)
Expats or expatriates are the people who live outside their own country for work purposes. When a company sends some employees to go and work in some other country , they are expats. These people find it very difficult to adjust to the new environment and often struggle to work there. The work culture also effects them as it might have difference to the culture they are accustomed till then. Being away from family and having to eat different food also impacts their work and hence they often fail to work .
Inorder to prepare them and avoid failure of the project because of them the organisation must take some steps before sending them. They must be trained regarding the new work environment they might face there and the people they need to work under. They also needs to be prepared about the weather conditions and the challenges they might face. Also the company must provide accomodation for the family of the employee. These preparations will help the organisation in preparing the employee on facing the new challenges and they will be able to execute the project effectively.
