Concrete is one of the most widely used construction material in spite of some inherited issues (brittle-ness, weak in tension, etc.). A lot of effort has been made to alter concrete behavior with the help of additives for example fly ash and silica fume etc.
It comes under Reactive powder and reactive aggregates concrete (RPRAC), was introduced. For this purpose, 18 wt.% of cement in concrete mix design was replaced with silica fume and fly ash to strengthen the cement paste according to reactive powder concrete technology and an optimal part of the sand in the concrete mix design was replaced with portland cement. Fly ash as a reactive synthetic aggregate. RPRAC was then compared with normal concrete as in terms of workability, setting time, different-age compressive and flexural strengths.
The achieved results showed that compressive strength of RPRAC was increased by 120% and 170% at 28 days.
