What are the three addítional sources of genetic variation within sexually reproducing populations? Briefly describe how each contributes to genetic variation?
The three additional sources are:
–Independent assortment of homologous chromosomes during meiosis I and of nonidentical sister chromatids during meiosis II.- When the assortment of chromosomes occurs be it in Meiosis I or II it leads to a genetic variation as the assortment leads to a change in the natural combination of Chromosomes, which leads to random orientation of the tetrads.
–Crossing over between homologous chromosomes during prophase I.- Similar explanation as above.
–Random fertilization of an ovum by a sperm.- Fertilization is random in nature which leads to an additional reason and attribution of genetic variation.,
