Is traditional public education equipped to meet the needs of our contemporary classroom demographic that includes so many immigrant children?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The film has a plot of a school with a teacher in the class and class is having students that learn different things, develop different interest on the basis of their own ethnic, gender, cultural and social differences. The film helps us to understand what is required to deliver education to these kids or students.
A traditional public education comes with clarity in curriculum, discipline, set guidelines and procedure for each activity, other than the proven evaluation system. It has been working for many years, but it has become static and lack of innovation takes place in this type of education when a class represents students from different ethnic background as they come from migrant families. Each migrant student behaves differently on the basis of culture, he or she learns, social norms to be followed and surroundings with language barriers. It makes traditional public education system to become unable to deliver flexibility required to deal with the demands of these migrant students. If traditional public education is applied, then it will be either average productive or least productive, as different migrant students understand differently and the traditional system does not allow the teach to do so. It is proven by the teacher in this film when he deviates and follow the pupil centric approach that brings more success than the outcome, a traditional education system could achieve.
