Suppose we have a 10-Hz sinusoidal voltage source, vin(t). Draw the diagram of a circuit that clamps the positive peaks to −4V. The circuit should be composed of ideal diodes, dc voltage sources, and other components as needed. List any constraints that should be observed in selecting component values. Be sure to label the terminals across which the clamped output waveform vo(t) appears.
Above circuit is simulated in multisim and results are shown below
As you see for positive peak (10v) we are getting -3.3v and for negative peak its -23.3v as 0.7 voltage derop is at diode .
and ideally we get the following result.
and coming to constraints on components the time constant RC should be much more than input time constant..Here input time constant =1/f=>1/10 i.e 0.1sec. Hence we choose here RC=10^6* 10^-3 i.e T=10^3 sec.
