Discussion organizational identity and its components (image, reputation, etc.). with a real world example
Organisation identity is used to address the areas of who are they, what they are doing. Thus it helps in creating an impression about the kind of business, objective of business, area of concentration etc. In business world creating and identity is very important to enhance the business functionalities, getting right resources to work for the company, client enrichment and exploring new markets etc. Some of the major components of organisation identity are image, reputation, brand etc. Image is all about how the organisation is projecting them towards external as well as internal. Consider the case of GE ( General Electric) company. It is a conglomerate which has diversified business unit. The company has an image which can attract new customers and getting the right impression from the society. They focus on sustainability business model and innovation and in addition inorder to maintain reputation they highly monitor their ethical issues. They build their brand through proper market analysis and market requirements. This reduces their failure rate and enhance the market accpetance rate. In addition product lifecycle and technology change etc are associated with the organisational identity. In addition to this GE as an organisation do lot of social empowerment initiatives, support NGO and local self government apart from their normal business operations inorder to create and sustain their strong identity.
