Describe evidence that supports gay-lussac's law, p/t = constant
for an isovolumeteric process. describe difficulties exploring this
law
Describe evidence that supoorts charle's law, v/t=constant for an
isobaric process. describe difficulties exploring this law
for buyles law
PV = constnat for ideal gas behaviour at constant temperature
now, this happens when a process happens such that the gas has no
change in internal energy
hence all the energy input is being used to do work ( 1st law of
thermodynamics)
so, as there is no change in temeprature, and internal energy is
constant
so when work is done by the gas, V increases, and to compensate for
increase in V, P decreases
it is difficult to observe this in rela life as it is difficult to createa perfectly isothermal process
form guy lussac's law
for isovolumetric process ( like in a closed can), P/T =
constant
so in a closed can, if we heat it, its temperature rises, and it
pops after a while if heated too much as pressure rise is observed
too
hence
P increases with increase in V indicating towards P/T =
constant
while expoloring this law, as the pressure increases inside the
canister, due to bulk modulus properties of the material, it
changes its volume and the preocess no longer remians an
isovolumetric process
from charle's law
for isobaric process
V/T = constant
now, consider a piston arrangement open to atmosphere
the pressure inside the cylinder is always constant
so as we heat the gas, the volume increases as piston comes
up
in this case too, for the process to be isobaric, the piston has to
move very slowly wihtout any acceleration which is difficult to
achieve
