Explain five pieces of evidence that supports the punctuational mode of an evolutionary trend?

The punctuation type of evolution means that in case the species appear in the fossil record it becomes a stable population and shows slow and little gradual evolutionary changes as compared to the geological history. The change in the morphology is limited in such cases.

Five proofs of punctuation evolution are:-

1. Fossil Record – It is very strong evidence when it comes to punctuation evolution. The presence of fossil shows that the organism has gradually changed from time to time. It shows that the simplest of all the fossils is seen on the rocks and is a smooth and gradual transition. The changes are limited after fossil finding.
2. Genetic Code – It is evident that all the organisms have gradually originated from cells and DNA. It shows that since all the organisms have been developed from the same ancestors, they reflect the same genetic code.
3. Common genetic aspects – There is common genetic material amongst different organisms which shows that organisms might have gradually evolved from each other. The genetic similarity might be very high and it represents coming from the same ancestors.
4. Common structural traits from embryogenesis – There are many organisms which belong to the same phylum because of striking similarity. The embryos of the animals that fall under the same phylum have similar genetic pattern and resemble each other structure wise.
5. Resistance to certain things – there are organisms and animals which show resistance against certain things and it is commonly seen in animals that have originated from common ancestor. For example – many organisms are resistant to certain category of bacteria showing evolutionary relationship.
