According to your text, “employee resistance is a symptom, not a problem, in the change process”. What are some of the real problems that may underlie employee resistance? We can say that the outlook of the organizational culture is what brings about the greatest resistance to our ability to create a stress-free and efficient trade process. We can say that the main causes that underlie employee resistance to change would include problems with the aspect of job security, skills required to be able to complete the tasks in the mind of the employee, the failure to adapt as well as the general idea of having to leave one’s comfort zone to venture into the unknown. We can, therefore, say that most problems that we face with the employees in the aspect of their resistance towards change can be considered to be a psychological state of mind as well as the inability of the management or the leaders to allow the employees to fully comprehend the value that the change would bring to the organization.
I have experienced this first hand at my place of employment. I work at a game design company and we had a big project that the company had undertaken which could be considered to be too ambitious. In order to make the make the best possible execution of the processes as possible, the company decided to use new software systems in the entire organization as well as hiring freelancers to work with the teams already present in the organization. The decision initially backfired since the company failed to take into account an employee’s resistance to change as well as the fact that bringing in more assets without a proper implementation was just as bad as not doing anything new. Without proper management, the company ended up losing time as well as the schedule had to be remade, the company then decided to crash the project by outsourcing the work while the company’s employee readjusted to the new software systems/
