29. DESCRIBE THE PROCESS OF OVERCOMING EMPLOYEES’ RESISTANCE TO CHANGE
Change refers to any difference that any organisation sees at either at a smaller level or a bigger level which affects the working operational of the activities. But it is a human tendency that we resist change. We tend to replace the change or resist the change as we see because we want things to the way it always is. But managers still have the responsibility to make the employees accept the change as to progress with the organisational's development. The effective process steps that could be taken to make them accept the change are:
1. Engage with employees: The first step is to make the employees understand the importance of the change. A manager should engage with the employees. He/She should try to make interpersonal connections and relations with the employees and engage with them effectively.
2. Communicate and Motivate: The next step is to make the employees understand the change by the motivation and leadership. Motivation should be done in such a manner where the employee understands that what lies with the benefits, importance and successive manner with the changes lying ahead.
3. Implement Change in several stage: At last, when the engagement and the motivation is done, the changes should be implemented in several stages. By bringing a large change at one level, the employees would have a higher tendency to resist the change. Thus, when the big change is to be introduced, it has to be introduced in phases. By making smaller - smaller changes frequently, customers could be adaptable to change.
