According to a workplace violence report issued by the FBI's Critical Incident Response Group, bullying, if left unchecked, may result in more serious violent behavior.
The Workplace Bullying Institute (WBI) notes that research findings "have confirmed that targets appear to be the veteran and most skilled person in the workgroup . . . Insecure bosses and coworkers can't stand to share credit for the recognition of talent. Bully bosses steal credit from skilled targets."
The WBI also says that "The most easily exploited targets are people with personalities founded on a prosocial orientation—a desire to help, heal, teach, develop, nurture others."
I completely agree that boss bullying or bullying at workplace remain completely unchecked. And most easy pray for this kind of bullying are people who have desire to help ,heal ,teach ,develop and nurture others. Most of the time it originates from insecurities that the boss have. As we know mediocrity is always threaten by talent. Both insecure bosses and coworkers can not stand together and share the credit. In my experience , every time I find difficult get permission for new research from my head and when it get published he always comes to take credit that it was done under him. So in my case it is se as discussed above that bully bosses steal the credit. They did not allow talented people to grow as they are insecure about themselves. And when the task is completed in an effective and efficient manner they comes to steal the credit. Bullying by bosses is nit limited to only credit stealing some time situation get worst. People who are exploited becomes vulnerable under the constant stress and bullying. It affects their personal as well as professional lives. Any kind of bullying is not acceptable in any society or workplace . It is a criminal offence that must be properly checked and controlled. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide and workplace where there is no bullying. And it is responsibility of the authorities to provide a check and control mechanism. Employees who have helpful nature and always ready to help are taken back when there credit goes to someone else. It is very difficult to work in an environment where the bullying exist and should be avoided.
