what is the difference between vegetable oil and fat? How would you describe the physical state of fat and vegetable oil at room temperature?
Answer :-
The difference between vegetable oil and fat are: -
Fats are solid at room temperature. The reason being is that they are derive from animal sources . In their fatty acids , carbons having single bonds between them. Maximum amount of hydrogen are present in triglycerides of these fatty acid which referred as saturated fatty acids. The chains of these fatty acids are straight and closely packed which makes the fats solid at room temperature.
Vegetable oil are liquid at room temperature. The reason being is that oils are generally derived from the plant source. The reason being is that they have double bonds between the some carbon which leads to the bend of the shape of molecule. As some carbon having double bond between them which makes them unable to form bond with maximum hydrogen atoms which results in the unsaturated fatty acids. As these fatty acids have double bonds and bends or kinks in the structure of fatty structure which results in the loosely packed structure and makes the oil liquid at room temperature..
