Do you believe a leader can vary their style (demonstrate directive, supportive, achievement, participative) with respect to different employees? Or does each leader tend to have a personal style that he or she regularly uses toward all employees?
A good and effective leader should change their style accordingly to their employees. This is a key for successful leadership and organization. An effective leader should be able to understand his team first, must realise each individual is unique and they should be handled in a different style. One style for all employees will not fit in at various circumstances. The following are some of the reasons that can be understood as to why a leader needs to change his style according to the employees..
1. A good should be flexible and adaptable to various situations and also individuals.
2. His style should be flexible attending to the needs of the individuals.
3. Concentrating on individuals rather than groups in total will be more efficient and productive.
4. Special skills of the employees will be tapped when leadership styles are changed.
5. Such leaders will gain the trust of the employees and the employees will do anything for such a leader.
6. Changing styles in leadership will make them more analytical and logical.
7. Even difficult problems or complex situation can be handled in a very smart and flexible manner.
8. Organizations with diverse workforce and culture will definitely need a situational leadership which can promote the values of the organization.
9. Goals and objectives are easily attained under such leadership.
10. The organization can be led effectively as well as the employees will be happy and satisfied to work in such an environment.
