It has been documented that music was an integral part of the
lives of the native Americans. It was used for a lot of rituals and
traditions in the everyday lives of the native Americans. It was
also used as a form of expression and also in some ways for healing
purposes and treatment. The music was produced using a lot of
different traditional instruments, though it was still the voice
which was perhaps the backbone of the diverse culture of music in
the native American culture.
The vocals in the native American culture is characterized by the
irregularities in the rhythm and a method of singing which was
different from a set standard and definitions of rules. We can
conclude that their art form for highly subjective and hence was of
liberal approach when it came to the interpretation of the music
that they produced. That is also one of the reasons why the musical
culture of the native Americans is extremely diverse and
complicated.
