The demographic transition:The 4 stages of this transition are very important to know and understand.
a For each stage below explain what is occurring with birth and death rates AND state if population is stable, growing or declining. (3 points)
b) Imagine you are a political leader in a country that is in stage 2 of the demographic transition and you are developing a plan to move your country through stages 2 and 3 to reach stage 4 as quickly as possible. What would be some specific methods you would advocate or laws you would pass to reach this goal. (1pt)
a. stage 1- it is the pre-industrial phase, wherein an increase in the birth rate as well as the death rate was observed. population is considered to be stable or increasing slowly.
stage 2- soon after the industrial revolution, the birth rate increased and there was a rapid fall in the death rate leading to a very rapid increase in the population.
stage 3- the growth rate started falling due to increase in the education, industrialization,etc and fall in the death rate was seen due to increased medical facilities. population rate started approaching stability.
stage 4- the birth rate and death rate lowered down considerably leading to a stable population.
b. most important measure for controlling population explosion is to increasing awareness campaigns on sex education and availability of contraceptives especially in the rural and remote areas
enacting strict law for the limitation of the children per couple.
