Describe the role of business research in promoting continuous improvement in health care organizations. Discuss the parameters of using business research to make changes or decisions in a health care environment or organization.
Answer-
Business research plays a crucial role in promoting the
continuous improvement of health care organizations. Through
business research, organizations are applicable to identify the
areas in which their facility needs improvement while also
providing solutions and ideas that can benefit employees, patients,
and the company as a whole. The concept of business research is to
promote and provide continuous quality improvement that ensures
that patient safety and health outcomes are met to the best of the
provider's ability. “Quality improvement projects and strategies
differ from research: while research attempts to assess and address
problems that will produce generalizable results, quality
improvement projects can include small samples, frequent changes in
interventions, and adoption of new strategies that appear to be
effective.”
The roles of business research can seem complex but can be
simplified through the parameters in order to implement change in
an organization or health care environment. Those parameters are as
follows:
• Identify the Problem
• Review Literature
• Clarify the Problem
• Define the Terms and Concepts
• Define the Population
• Develop a Plan
• Collect Data
• Analyze Data
Through these steps, business research proves to be highly
beneficial to the health care industry to allow for continuous
improvement.
