• Mediation analysis is an important component of physical activity research and is a useful tool in identifying the variables responsible for changes in physical activity. The study has shown that a school-based physical activity program for children resulted in increased physical activity levels which were mediated by changes in teacher support for physical activity. These findings concur with research suggesting that the teacher holds the key to learning in schools,and suggest that researchers targeting children in the school setting should utilize the influence of the teacher in promoting positive physical activity behaviors both at school and at home.
