What is meant by the term technological imperative? Describe its implications with respect to TWO of the following: (a) reproductive technologies; (b) end-of-life decision making; (c) genetic technologies
Technological imperative is the belief that technology and its advancements are a necessity for the society as they help in bringing the society closer to what it should be. Hence, there should be burgeoning production of more technological gadgets for the greater good.
A) with respect to reproductive technology, it has it's boons as it brings happiness and peace to people who have genuine problem thst inhibits their reproduction, but it also has its vices as it is taking control over a phenomena that is innately natural.
B) end of life decision making is the power that an individual holds in making the decision over what treatment they get based in their illness despite having life saving options. Technological advances can help, but not override the wished of the patient themselves.
C) genetic technologies have been useful in assuaging and understanding quite a few genetic disorders and dysfunctions, but there is limit to which man is attempting to play God, and maybe an experiment away from a possible dystopia future.
