Please answer with short description. please type the answers.
Wind Power
Following are the short discription of terms given in question:
a) Hadley Circulation - It is a parameter or scale named after George Hadley that refers to the air that rises upto 10 to 15 km near the equator which transport to the poles, descent at the subtropics and then returned to the near surface at equator, this completes a circulation which is better known as Hadley Circulation. This circulation occurs due to the air get heated around the equator by Sun radiation.
b) Catabatic Winds- Catabatic or Katabatic is a greek word which means descending. As the name suggests this wind flows from high elevation to lower elevation carrying high density air under the influence of gravity. This descending flow occur due to cooling of air near the terrain suface results a downward flow of air which flows down the slope.
c) Geostropic Winds- These winds are found at the altitude of 3000 ft which are formed by the intraction of Coriolis force and pressure gradient force. These winds are flows in such direction where the pressure is same or almost same. These winds are not possible at equator because of the fact that the coriolis fore at equator is zero and these winds are formed by equilibrium of coriolis force and pressure gradient force.
d) Boundary layer - To understand what boundary layer means first let's talk about friction and it's effect on winds. Yes!! friction does apply on winds upto a certain height, this friction causes air to slow down resulting low coriolis force which cuses Geostropic wind. So, the boundary layer is that hieght upto which the friction effects the coriolis force or in general wind so that it resist the wind to become geostropic.
