Go onto PsychInfo (or some other database) and find a study that uses archival data. Give me a very brief (two to three sentence) synopsis of the study. What did they look at, and what did they find? Make sure you look at an actual peer-reviewed study (and not just an article that tells you what archival research studies are!)
PLEASE GIVE ME A DIFFERENT ANSWER THAN THE ONE GIVEN BEFORE (I mean, this questions was already answered, but I need a different answer than the one already given.) if the question is unclear, please tell me how it is unclear.
There have been a study conducted by Michael(2018) to test the concepts of Freud about hysteria or the presently known conversion disorder. The study mainly focuses on the notion of Freud that the symptoms witnessed during hysteria are basically due to the unconscious impulses or due to the impulses or instincts which were repressed at some time. They also wanted to test Freud's notion of the secondary gain as a cause of hysteria which states that the patients maintain those symptoms as they get reinforced by the attention the get while they show those symptoms or behaviours. Through their study they have found out that Freud's notion was correct as they have found results which supports the fact that repression has some relation with symptoms of hysteria and there is also a link found between sexual abuse and conversion symptoms. There have also been evidences found in support of the concept of secondary gain in hysteria or conversion disorder.
