What is the difference between a learning-goal orientation and a performing-goal orientation?

Learning-goal Orientation: Learning oriented Employees or students are focused on increasing their knowledge and mastery. This is why it is also known as Mastery goals orientation. Their purpose is personal development and growth. They are interested in increasing thier competence. Learning-goal oriented Employees and students likes to take challenging tasks so that they can gain new experience and knowledge. Learning oriented people regularly strive towards mastery of the skill. These people don't focus on end result but on acquiring new skills.
Performance-goal Orientation: Performance-goal Oriented students and Employees are more interested in demonstrating their competence by meeting Performance goals. They don't focus on increasing their competence. Performance goal oriented people who will immediately try to show off their skills by performing the taks given. They avoid challenging tasks because of fear of failure. They are afraid of making mistakes. Performance goal oriented people focus on end result.
Learning goal Orientation is better than Performance goal Orientation that's why Companies strive to make a learning organisation. By creating a learning environment, Employees are encouraged to learn new skills and knowledge which helps Employees and organisation both.
