1. What is the difference between a homosexual orientation and a heterosexual orientation? Define Bisexuality.

3. Describe the relationship between heredity, genetics make-up and predisposition and sexual orientation, specifically among twins. Do you think there is a relationship between your sexual orientation and your genes ??
4. Compare and contrast the baby blues and postpartum depression in terms of symptoms, duration, impact , effects on the person and family members and consequences .
5. Describe environmental influences on prenatal development. Choose one of the teratogens discussed in the chapter and the notes and talk about the psychological, behavioral, cognitive and physical impact it has on the developing child.
1. Homosexual orientation
Homosexual orientation means sexually attracted to the same sex to whichthe individuals belongs to.As sexual attraction of man to man and woman to woman, and they would prefer to have sexual relationship in the same manner.
Heterosexual orientation
Heterosexual orientation means sexual attraction and relationship between individuals of opposite sex and a preference for it. As the sexual attraction between men and women and vice versa, they are also called straights.
Bisexual orientation
Individuals who prefer to have sexual relationship with both the opposite sex of theirs and with the same sex as theirs, are called bisexuals.
2. In most cultures of the world homosexuality has been a taboo, though it still continues to be in some societies of the world. In U.S LGBT have gained their rights. LGBT rights are still to be gained in India where sexual orientation other than heterosexuality is still a taboo. Thus, many societies have accepted sexual orientations other than heterosexuality but many are yet to accept, though all three sexual orientations existed since ancient times, as homosexuality and bisexuality were well practiced Greek-Roman societies and Japanese societies in the ancient past.
3. The twin studies regarding sexual orientations support the role of genes in this respect. Genes do play an important role in deciding sexual orientations as some individuals are born with cogenital traits that decides their sexual preferences. As studies suggest sexual orientations are inherited and other factors that play an important role are hormonal levels of mothers and uterus's environment that plays key roles .
4. Both baby blues and postpartum depression are experienced by women immediately after child birth. Due to sudden change in hormonal levels, childbirth stress, fatigue and sleep deprivation some women experience overwhelming sadness, loneliness, low in energy and tiredness for a brief period this is called baby blues. But when these symptoms persist for longer duration with continuous mood and depression, then it is called postpartum depression. Both impacts the health and well being of mother and child,and especially the postpartum depression.
5. The negative influence of environment on the development of an embryo or fetus is called teratogens. The effect of teratogens may cause physical and psychological impairments. The impact of mother's alcoholism may cause low birth babies, also such children are prone to develop many psychological disorders. May not attain the required cognitive abilities during their growth period and at risk of developing alcoholism.
