In the United States, which plays a more significant role in political behavior, gender or race? Explain.
Race. One of the major influences in the US politics is of race. This is because the populations of the United States have suffered a long history of racial discrimination. Gender discrimination is not as prominent in US itself since gender discrimination is a global phenomena. While selecting for a representative people tend to look for a person who would be representing their ethniccity or culture or race. Minorities on the basis of race has been much more prominent as compared to minorities on the basis of gender. Hence, to obtain proper representation and so as to reduce discrimination against the people of a particular race the choices are made on the basis of the ethnicity of the politician and not on the basis of the gender. One of the biggest examples of this could be of the US president election of 2016. Most people acknowledged President Trump as the representative of their culture and a person who would voice their opinions in a strong manner leading to formation of favouritism and election.
