Personally speaking, I
believe the below mentioned three areas would provide more
leadership growth:
- Idealized Influence (II) - II refers to ‘walk the talk’ and it
more connected to ethical and moral values. The leader conveys a
clear sense of integrity.
- Adaption-Innovation theory-wherein the leader uses both
adaptive style (structured and methodical way to solve problems)
and innovative style (problem solving using creativity).
- Critical thinking-refers to approaching the situation with
certain mindset. The characteristics of critical thinking are open
mindedness, high motivation, intellectual humility, healthy
skepticism and free thinking.
The goals in these
areas are:
- To practice the ‘walk the talk’ approach as there might be
situations with ethical dilemmas. This is important as employees
lack trust in leaders.
- To develop adaptive and innovative style in resolving problem
in teams. The problem solving approach is pertinent as it is one of
the weaknesses and areas of development for leadership.
- To approach the problem with a critical thinking mindset. A
poised and calm approach needs to be exhibited in leaders to handle
the teams effectively.
