mlO2/dLblood = (gHb/dLblood) * (%sat/100) * (1.34 mlO2/dLblood)
Given 16gHb/dL and saturation of 92%, what is the ml of oxygen in the blood?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The blood Carey oxygen from the lungs to different body parts. The oxygen is transported in two forms:

  • Bound to hemoglobin
  • Dissolved in blood

The formula for calculation of total oxygen in blood will include both of the above-mentioned forms.

Note: the formula in the question above only includes the Bound form of oxygen only. But the actual oxygen content will differ when we include the dissolved oxygen also.

It was a pleasure answering your question. Hope this helps...

Good luck!!
