(Answer) The purpose of the teachings of Jesus has been circled around the new mandatum or the new commandment. These teachings were culminated on “Maundy Thursday” or the day of the last supper which is commemorated by Christians even today. This new commandment entailed that humans are to love their fellow human beings just as Jesus has loved them. In other words, human beings are to love their fellow human beings equally, no matter what their backgrounds or ethnicity. This is why Jesus served his disciples through love by washing their feet on Maundy Thursday and died as the saviour of humanity. Jesus urges human being to have the same sense of service in their hearts.
Similarly, Martin Luther King urged the American public to practice love and compassion towards others, no matter what was the colour of their skin or their ethnic background. The purpose of the talks and actions by Jesus and Martin Luther were both egalitarian in nature. They spoke with a view to uniting the people, despite genetic or societal barriers through the commandment of love and compassion towards all.
