develop a treatment plan for a specific phobia. In your plan, use psychology of learning terminology. Some examples of possible phobias include acrophobia, agoraphobia, cynophobia, astraphobia, pteromerhanophobia, etc.
What is Phobia?
Phobia is a irritational fear of some specific thing.Phobia has many types. Such as , fear of high spaces, fear of blood, fear of water etc.The phobic person always try to avoid the fear objects.Sometimes an intensive phobia can hamper someone's normal daily life. In this cases, Some physical changes may occur during the presence of that particular fear object.
Treatment plan -
Cognitive Therapy- If someone is having some specific issues of phobia. Then this treatment can helps them to reduce that particular phobia. This treatment helps to reduce the fear of that particular phobia and tries to make them more realistic. As example if someone is facing trouble of aquaphobia which is the fear of the water, A cognitive treatment helps to replace the fear with the some realistic experiences.
Classical Conditioning- Classical conditioning was stated by pavlov in the year 1950. The classical conditioning therapy helps to cope with the phobia. The aim of this therapy is, habituating the patients with the phobic situation so that the fear can reduce. This classical conditioning theorey beliefs that, the phobic response is only the fear about the non-dengerous objects.
Exposure Treatment- In this treatment therapy, patients need to face their actual phobic objects.This treatment is also known as ''flooding''. Some patients gets violent and starts panic in the actual phobic situation.So they are advised to imagine the phobic situation only. This treatment helps to face the phobic situation and helps to get rid from this situation.
Medication- Medicines also used in the treatment of Phobia. Some phobias like fear in the airplane, fear in public interaction can be treated with the proper medicines. such as Sedative and Benzodiazepines. This kinds of medicines helps to reduce the anxiety and helps to handle the phobic situation.
Supports of the family - Psychotherapy may help the patient to overcome firstly but the help and supports of the parents can always help in a better way. Parents should be caring about the fear of the child and needs to help the child to forget about the feared situation.
Try to Enhance positive thinking- Patients need to be positive to overcome from this situation. As example they can be attched with some social organization to be happy and self motivated. This will also help him or her to forget about the feared situation.
Some Phobias
Acrophobia- Acrophobia is the fear of Height. If a person is having Acrophobia then he or she will start panic in their space discomfort.
Agoraphobia- Agoraphobia is a common specific phobia. It creates the fear of places and situations.people starts avoiding socail gathering , social interactions when they are having Agoraphobia. Sometimes they starts panic when they are being in crowd.
Cynophobia- Cynophobia is the fear of dogs. In this phobia people starts panic only by seeing a dog. This phobia is also known as the Animal Phobia.
Astraphobia- Astraphobia is kind of rear and abnormal phobia. This is an extreme fear of thunder and lightning.This phobia can seems in the animal also.
Ptreomehanophobia- It is also a rear phobia. It is basically a fear of flying. As example if a person has this phobia, then it will be very difficult for him to travel in airplane.
