• A web portal architecture is used to describe the overall structure of a web system. It collectively brings methods to provide the requested emails, online forums,search engines in a uniform way.This portal system consists of :

1. Portal Server : It hosts the User Interface and handles the HTTP requests and gives back the required pages to the respective clients. This server may consists of - Plumtree Database,Plumtree Image Server,Plumtree Automation server.
2. Authentication Servers : It handles authentications for portals which can be remotely accessed.
3. Portal UI Architecture : This describes the basic UI of the portal and also handles the MVC design pattern.It has the control over request flow.
4. Web Service and Enterprise Web Applications : It establishes the connection between the portal server to remote server and also contains the related protocols like HTTP ans SOAP communication.
5. Around 2008 web portals weren't common and most of the traffic was centered around websites thus reducing the accessibility and speed of information, having web portal being developed increased not only the speed but also the information is now accessible in various formats using portal UIs. Moreover the web requests were based on Monolithic architecture which has gradually moved to Microservice architecture and hence it is more reliable and fast in comparison to older technologies.
