Scenario 2: Create a sales promotion
Create a sales promotion you think will attract a lot of college students to your favorite fast-food restaurant. Examples of sales promotions: coupons, sampling, free product, etc.
Now think about traditional media that is accessed by this target audience (college students). Which one(s) would be most effective in communicating your sales promotion?
Least effective? Explain your reasoning and use the textbook readings to substantiate your views.
An effective sales promotion for the college students might include a free sampling session for each student who is ready to provide two references aming his /her friends / family members. He /she on completion of sampling session will be given a booklet of ten discount coupons, each bearing 20% discount on counter rates of all items sold. The person, on realisation of all coupons, will also get a wallet balance ( through mobile application) equal to 10% of sales value, which can be redeemed at the outlet within 30 days.
This will not only create new references, but also ensure the repeat visits of the customers.
The most effective traditional media is a flyer distributed to individuals with an invitation to sample free cuisines, with one poster pasted near the notice board of the institute ( with due permission from authorities) and near hostels. It is because news of such free invitations are most sought after by the youngsters and spreads virally. The least effective traditional media is a newspaper ad which hardly very few students are likely to see.
