Expert Solution

I agree with the initial statement that highlights advertising as an important part of promotion as advertising helps to create awareness about the product among the customer only after which other strategies like public relations, discount, personal selling etc follow. Therefore advertising is the first integral step in the promotion process which not only helps to create awareness about the product bit also helps to catch the attention of customers, helps to motivate the customer for purchase and positions the product in the minds of customers as best.

But i do not completely agree with the other part of the statement which holds that advertising is the most important tool to reach customers value and satisfaction when compared with other promotion because I believe that each promotional strategy had a separate role to play which cannot be replaced by advertisement altogether. For example public relations helps to ensure long term relationship with customers and discount selling increases sales, while advertisements might not be so attractive to perform these roles.

My team members believe that advertisement is a basic promotion tool while PR or personal selling are more specific, personal and specialised promotional tools with intended purpose. Therefore advertisement thought very important for promotions can still not be able to ply the role of others with required efficiency.

Therefore we as a group conclude that Advertisements are very important part of promotion and go together with the other techniques or strategies also.
