1....How does the internal resistance of the inductor affect the circuit?

2... Both capacitors and inductors store energy, where the capacitors store energy in the form
of electric field while the inductors store energy in the form of magnetic field. Due to this energy storage,
each component inserts a delay in the voltage or current of the circuit. Both components are widely used
in filters among other applications. In a very basic way, explain how capacitors can be used in flash
cameras and how the inductors can be used in automotive ignition circuits.

Solutions

Expert Solution

1) Effect of internal resistance of the inductor.

If the inductor is pure then the phase difference between the current and voltage has to be 90 degree but once there is a internal resistance of inductore comes into play it start showing its effect on phase difference and there will reduction in the effective voltage across the inductor. The circuit become a RL series circuit.

2) The Capacitor can be used in the flash camera to glow the discharge tube and flush the light.

This happens because the capacitor keeps on charging utill its electric potential reach a level which is enough to glow the discharge tube.

Use of inductors in automotive ignition circuits.

In the automotive system we require a spark sysetem that work on a very precise time and spark can only be produce by providing a high potential difference between a small space.

To produce a very high voltage for a small time duration, Inductore are use which store energy in the form of magnetic field and the voltage across the inductore is given by

so rate of change of current can produce a very high voltage across inductor which is used to ignite the spark and the ingine

and this can be done by using

In an (AC) RLC circuit, does the what is the order of obstruction? Does the inductor, capacitor, or resistor obstruct first? and last? And what are each of them obstructing ( change of current or change of voltage)? What about in (DC) source? What happens when the capacitor receives a change in rate of voltage? Does it induce a new current to push back the voltage? I am very confused. Please show in detail and diagrams. Thank you
