How does antibiotic resistance develop?
What complications can occur from antibiotic resistance, both in humans and in livestock?
Should we decrease the use of antibiotics in humans and livestock animals?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Antibiotic resistance develop when a bacteria or other micro organisms are able to survive in the host besides the presence of antibiotic which has to kill it.The organism undergo conjugation and transfer the genes to their offspring which are generally antibiotic resistant.Sometimes overuse of antibiotic leads to antibioic resistance

Some of the complications occuring in humans and livestocks are

  • increased human illness and suffering
  • death
  • increased costs and length of treatment
  • increased side effects
  • Diarrhoea,nausea,bloating and indigestion
  • abdominal pain
  • anorexia
  • Organ failure if antibiotic resistance is too greater extent

The use of antibiotic in livestock animals has to be reduced because vertinary pathogens or commensals may become more resistant to antimicrobials and if so it could transfer the resistant pathogens to human by consuming the animal and its products.

The use of antibiotic in human develop resistance over period of time and leading to research and innovation of a newer medicine and more illeffects in individuals.
