1.Ways to prevent entering the fuel to the cylinder during compression are,
# Throttle - Its a mechanism by which fuel flow is managed. The throttle valve is operated manually or by a governor and controls the amount of fuel.
# Regulator-Its another method for preventing the entrance of fuel to the cylinder.
2.The 4 strokes of a 4 stroke cycle engine are,1-Intake,2-Compression,3-Combustion,4-Exhaust(Outlet).
The positions of piston and valves on these cycles are,
Intake- Intake valve will be on open position, the piston will have downward motion.
Compression- Here both the intake and exhaust valves are closed, piston move downward.
Combustion- The piston will be at top dead centre(T.D.C),but forcefully returning it to bottom dead centre(B.D.C).
Exhaust- The piston once again returns from B.D.C to T.D.C and the exhaust valve will be open
3.# Directly via a gear mechanism
# Indirectly via a belt or chain called a timing belt or timing chain
# Direct drive using gears( unusual because of the cost)
4. turn over with a short burst.
5.After removing the spark plugs for a compression test you should inspect them.because the spark plug is the best indicator of what is going on inside the combustion chamber.while todays modern fuels make plug reading much more difficult you can get a lot of information by looking at them.
6.Low compression in a cylinder will most likely trip a Diagnostic trouble code.
