Plant acquisition of nutrients mediated by ion channels.in the plasma membrane of root cells.. Nutrients are indispensable elements required for the growth of plants and pathogens
Phyllosphere, rhizosphere, apoplast, phone, xylem and cell organelles are the nutrient niches in plants that are mainly bacterial pathogens.
They adopt various strategies to aquire nutrients. They can either modulate there own metabolism or manipulate the plant cell machinery to aquire nutrients. Initially bacterial pathogens colonize the plant surface namely phyllosphere and rhizosphere and obtain nutrients. Later they gain access to the interior portion of plants tissues including the vascular elements and the intercellular spaces to obtain nutrients and to avoid fluctuating environmental conditions. Bacterialpathogens enter plants through pre existing openings such as stomata. Bacterial pathogens take up nutrients by modifying a desirable form using extra cellular enzymes.
Biotrophs and hemibiotrophs use secretion system (TTSS) to inject the cellular molecules that target different components to the host cell and modulate plant metabolism by releasing nutrients.
Nectrotrophs secrets cell wall degrading enzymes that breakdown the components of host cell wall leading to the release of nutrients.
