Engineering Materials - This are the materials defined as which are applied or used on structure as well as property of materials used in structure or designing . This is important because a wrong selected material can cause a lot of damage or even can cause failure in whole structure . Suppose if we want a material where tensile strength is the highest criteria but we are selecting a material having high compressive strength , then due to wrong selection whole structire will be a failure one . Due to faulty / wrong material , the whole structure life is at risk . Thus proper material selection is the most important step for good structure and healthy structure for long term . While chosing material , strength is very important criteria , Then we have to assess mechanical , thermal , electrical properties of chosen material . Cost also plays an important role while selcting a material , analyse them .
