Why is data standardization becoming increasingly important in healthcare? Do you think that the IT department should always be the driving force behind keeping an organization up to date?
Data standardization is becoming important in healthcare because:
1. This data can be analyzed properly when it is in a poper format.
2. The data can give proper and accurate information of the trends of an ailment and the forecast for the same.
3. Data tracking and reference becomes easier because a single word may have different usage and reference and if used differently, the information can cause confusion thus affecting the life of the patient.
4. For future reference, it will be easier and solution can be offerred almost immediately.
No, not only the IT department should keep the organization up to date, it should be the responsiblity of every individual working in the company to keep the company up to date, The IT department can update on few factors. You can't expect the IT department to know about all the different divisions, projects and upates in different section of the company, nor can you just rely on the IT department for an update while the company is bleeding money. So, whenever and wherever you find something or someway that you can upgrade the company, you can inform the appropriate authority about the same. Either way you will also be rewarded if the company benefits from the same.
