Our society wants to regulate drug use;

1.          No society will ever eliminate the demand for intoxicants, as the market for such chemicals is incredibly resilient. People in society always desire a chemical escape from reality.

2.          Addicts and recreational users alike will pursue illegal drugs, in order to fill their demands in the absence of legal drugs.

3.          Illegal suppliers of drugs produce an unregulated product of questionable purity to a population that has no legal recourse to consequence those who sell them bad drugs.

4.          Drug prohibition has little effect on drug usage rates, yet it leads to a dramatic increase in incarceration rates.

5.         New and innovative drugs are created in order to avoid detection by the police, during times of prohibition,
