SHS has also been related to other illnesses and deaths. Each year, in the U.S. alone, SHS is responsible for: approximately 46,000 deaths from heart disease in people who did not smoke.

• The safest and most productive activities are swimming, brisk walking, indoor stationary cycling, step or elliptical machines, and low-impact aerobics.
