6.13 An industrial engineer employed by a beverage bottler is interested in the effects of two different types of 32‐ounce bottles on the time to deliver 12‐bottle cases of the product. The two bottle types are glass and plastic. Two workers are used to perform a task consisting of moving 40 cases of the product 50 feet50 feet on a standard type of hand truck and stacking the cases in a display. Four replicates of a 2222 factorial design are performed, and the times observed are listed in the following table. Analyze the data and draw appropriate conclusions. Analyze the residuals and comment on the model's adequacy.

Expert Solution

The data is entered in Minitab like as below:

Now, run the test:

Click OK.

The output will be:

The model is not adequate because the residuals are not normally distributed.

An industrial engineer employed by a beverage bottler is interested in the effects of two different types of 32-ounces bottles vs the potential fatigue differences resulted from delivering 12-bottle cases of the product. The two bottle types are glass and plastic. Two workers are used to perform the task that consists of moving 40 cases of the product 50 feet on a standard type of hand truck and then, stacking the cases in a display. As a measured of the...

An industrial engineer is considering two assets to be purchased by a company. Asset A will have an initial cost of $90,000, an annual operating and maintenance cost of $32,000, and a $6,000 salvage value. Asset B will have a first cost of $135,000, an annual operating and maintenance cost of $25,000, and a $17,500 salvage value. Which one should be selected? A psychopharmacologist (a psycholgist interested in the effects of drugs and physiology) is interested in determining the effects of caffeine (from coffee) on performance. Twenty students from a large introductory psychology class volunteered to participate in the study; all were dedicated coffee drinkers and all drank caffeinated coffee. The volunteers were then randomly divided into two groups such that there were ten students in each group. One group of 10 students was asked to study the material while drinking their...
