In: Math
Qualitative, Quantitative, Discrete, Continuous.
Required:
(a) List 5 qualitative variables and 5 quantitative variables seen around the home.
(b) List 5 discrete and 5 continuous variables found at home, at work, on TV or any other location.
In each case explain the reason(s) for your answers.
a) Qualitative variables around the home
1) Vibes in the family -> either good or bad
2) Smell in the house -> good or bad
3) cleaniness of floor in house -> clean or dirty
4) Behaviour of people in house
5) Taste of food
Quantitative variable:
1) Amount of water filled in tank-> in liters.
2) Temperature of room-> in celsius
3) Average height of people in house
4) Number tablets in the first aid kit
5) Fuel in the car-> in liters
b)
Discrete variables:
1) Number of keys in calculator
Reason- It is countably finite.
2) Paper in the printer
Reason- There are countable number of pages inside the printer.
3) Pencils in the pencil box.
Reason- countable number of stationary contained in the box.
4) Number of cars in house garage.
Reason- House garage can hold limited number of cars which we can count.
5) Number mobile phones house members have
Reason- There are limited members in a house and they have countable number of phones.
Continuous variable:
1) Sound from the speaker within 60Hz- 90Hz
Reason- It can vary speaker to speaker within the range provided.
2) Amount of water flowing from the tap
Reason- Water is flowing continuously from the tap i can be measured in numerics but it contains infinite values within the range.
3) Height of people at workplace.
Reason- Height can vary person to person, that is why it is continuous variable.
4) Weight of people at workplace
Reason- Weight can vary person to person, that is why it is continuous variable.
5) Score obtained in the project at workplace
Reason- Score can vary project to project it can also be lie within the interval, so it is continuous variable.
