20. D)All the above are true of the pineal gland

Pineal gland attached to the roof of third ventricle of the brain in the midline. It secreates melatonin.Melatonin appears to contribute to the setting of the body's biological clock, which is controlled by the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus. As more melatonin is liberated during darkness than in light ,this hormone is thought to promote sleepiness.

21.B)Its posterior portion is called the adenohypophysis.

The anterior pituitary gland is known as adenohypophysis. Posterior pituitary gland is called as neurohypophysis.

22.C)ANTIDIURETIC HORMONE

Hormones secreted from anterior pituitary and act on other endocrine glands are called tropic hormones. Antidiuretic hormone or vasopressin is secreted from posterior pituitary.

23.C) It is the target organ for ACTH

ACTH or Adrenocorticotrophic hormone which is released by anterior pituitary gland targets on adrenal cortex. It controls the secretion of glucocorticoids and Androgens.
