Evaluate Robert Reichs argument that the common good has been eroded and yet could be restored. In Paragraphs explain How persuasive do you find his book?
According to Robert Reich, the common good means our shared values about what we owe one another as citizens, who are bound together in the same society. He says, that the concept of common goal was eroded away from the society therefore, it's very essential to restore it again. I completely agree with his opinion because, people have a tendency to give more importance to competition, individual goals rather than social harmony and the group goals. We should be committed to our fundamental principles. We need to erode inequality from our society. For instance, many times some corrupted businessmen are earning wealth, name, position than a soldier, educator, those who really work for the society. So I think, we need to restore common good.
I found this book as very persuasive one to eliminate social evils and to restore values, harmony etc. Reich's also suggests the ways to restore these qualities and I felt it was really motivating and insightful. He suggests about the importance of leadership as trusteeship, mentioned about the responsibilities of corporate executives. He gave great emphasis on civic education and the importance of public service. He recommend for joining together to achieve common goals. These ideas are really creative, insightful, genuine and persuasive to create a better society with more harmony.
