What do bone, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, adipose, and blood have in common that classify them as connective tissues? And what are their characteristics?
Connective tissue is one of the tissue of the body.It is found between other tissues and can be seen everywhere in the body.It consists of cells, fibres and ground substances. It is classified in to two ,connective tissue proper and special connective tissue.Loose connective tissue and dense connective tissue are included in connective tissue proper.Structures such as tendons and ligaments are dense regular connective tissue. In this the collagen fibres are arranged in an parallel type. This gives strength in one direction.Dense irregular connective tissue are arranged by dense bundles of fibres arranged in all directions and it provides strength in multiple directions.Adipose tissue, cartillage ,bone and blood are special connective tissues .Ground substances present in connectyive tissues .are viscous fluid with clear, and colorless fatures. To fix the collagen fibres in the intercellular spaces, the viscous fluid contains glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans. Both the ground substance and proteins create the matrix for connective tissues.
