How might effective leadership vary according to the situation at hand?
Effective leadership can be understood as the ability of a leader to manage any given situation in order to bring the best possible execution forward. Change is an inevitable reality, every market, industry and business experiences it at one point or the other and therefore, the ability of the leader to effectively manage this change determines their competency. We can say that a leader must perform their function by selecting the plan of action based on the situation in order to deal with it effectively. For example, in an organization that follows a hierarchical and centralized structure, the leader seeks to motivate the people while limiting the element of individualized approach while in a decentralized, democratic operational structure, the leader allows the employees to come up with the unique solutions to the problems at hand while providing them with the required level of autonomy which is something that would not work well if the situation was different.
